Web21 mei 2009 · Line pipe threads are old hat on blow out preventers and I have seen several engineering deviations from nominal API book values but the taper is never one of them. Line pipe is nothing more than a NPT thread inside a shallow counterbore and 3 turn hand tight makeup applies for both. If your thread is not ¾” taper per foot it’s not line pipe.
